Nest was constructed for a flamingo specimen in the collection of The Rooms (St. John's, NL). The bird was blown off course in the 1970's and seen by a fisherman flying across Newfoundland; the flamingo was shot and later donated to the museum's collection. This exhibition (In Some Far Place, curated by Mireille Eagan) marks the first time the bird was displayed to the public. A performance accompanies this piece— after composing a lullaby for the bird, during the opening reception for the exhibition, visitors were invited to sing with me, and together we attempted to lull the flamingo to sleep with awkward song.
